Gifts of love....

"If you then..know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!" Matt. 7:11
Happy days after Christmas to everyone!! I hope you all have been enjoying sweet and precious time with your friends and family. I believe that is one of the many gifts God gives to us on a yearly, for some of us weekly, basis and may we never take that for granted. It is also a joy to give gifts to our family and children as we gather with each other to spend some special time together. This Christmas at our house was very low key. We were happy and blessed to get our little Karina some fun things we knew she would enjoy and our family time before a rather busy day was precious to me.

We woke up and enjoyed watching her glee as she unwrapped our surprises for her. Then we dug into some yummy cinnamon rolls. That is after we sang happy birthday to Jesus with candles in our rolls ( a fun suggestion from my sister in law ). Though Karina might have requested it anyway for when I got her out of bed and told her that it was HIS birthday she immediately said to me, " We can sing and blow out the candles?" So that is just what we did.

This last little gift was a puppy that makes sounds and moves a little for our sweet animal lover!

Then we were off to my in laws house to celebrate with them. We all had a great time watching each other open our gifts to them. Then we ate a wonderful meal and enjoyed relaxing with each other. Though when a Wii is one of the gifts given some decided to stand and play while others of us watched. :)

My sister in law made these adorable plates with our girls silhouettes on them to go with the one of her son she made last year.

These are some handmade pillows I made with some of Jeff's grandmothers old buttons. Some of which belonged to her mother. That was really special to me and so I thought it would be neat to make these for them both. I was very happy with how they turned out but man was it some hard work. It was all worth the looks on their faces as they opened them up.

This is a fun shot of the boys, well Karina too, opening some fun toys. You would have thought it was for Karina with how into them she was. She is a gadget person like her dad.
And here is where the boys became ten again. I know they will have a great time with this. Thank you again mom and dad for such a generous gift.

And thank you for the wonderful meal.

Some of the yummy sweets we enjoyed. I LOVE this candy!!

Christmas night we went to my folks for some wonderful breakfast for dinner. We also had a great time acting out the Christmas story. As you can see all the cousins and even the dad's joined in the fun. I was busy taking pictures but did have a wise man crown on. Oh and Karina decided to play and watch so I am hoping she is more into it next year as she will understand the story more.

Then my mom had things for the kids to make. One was a scene of the manger they could add stickers too . And one was a little snow globe with the manger scene in it. They all had a great time and it was a great way to end our day.

I had to add a couple pictures of my niece and nephew that I am so thrilled to have close by so that I can give them lots of hugs and kisses. I didn't get good picture of their big sister, but I will share hers another time.

This is a fun night we had a week before Christmas when we met at my sisters house to go caroling in the back of my dad's truck. Then we went on to my mom's house to decorate gingerbread cookies. It has become a tradition for the last few years and I hope we continue even as the family grows and we no longer fit in the one truck.

Jeff had some cuddle time with my parents new puppy, Biscotti.

Well that is our December fun. I can't believe that tomorrow is the last day of the year. We have plans to spend time with family and to welcome in the New Year with hope and trust in God to lead us as we look to Him in all we do. We pray you do the same. And Happy New Year to you!!!

Merry Christmas everyone!

I know it has been awhile since I have been on here to share with you, but things have been busy and I have been just enjoying being with great friends and family. Then there are the crafty gifts I decided to make too late, but I'm hoping somehow I will get them done. They are for very special people in my life so it is all very worth it and what is a gift really if it doesn't cost us something in the way of love and labor. So I hope you all have those people you love close by in these sweet days and remember each one is a gift God has given! Here is a little (long) poem I wrote up the other day when I woke up and couldn't stop the rhyming in my head. :)
On this Christmas
As I sit so comfortably and admire our tree,
I think of the great price that was paid for me.
The life and death of God's own precious Son,
And the victory over sin and death he has won.
The wooden trough where he first laid His sweet head,
reminds me to not be prideful but humble instead.
The wood that He worked hard to craft with His "dad",
Reminds me to work hard with my hands and in it be glad.
The wooden boats He rode in as His disciples he did teach,
Reminds me to spread His words and nothing is beyond His reach.
But most of all of I remember the tree on which He did hang,
Baring my guilt, my sin and my shame.
That I may have life and find freedom from sin,
As each day my Lord makes me more and more like Him.
So as you sit and gaze at your tree,
Do you know this great love we so desperately need?
If not I pray you will for one day will come,
When God will join to Himself only those who know and love his Son.
Dear friends on this Christmas I pray for all of you,
And if you know this great love I rejoice with you too!
For the reason for Christmas that began with a sweet little boy,
Is our comfort, our peace, our hope, and our JOY!

Love to you all and a Very Merry Christmas!!

A not so quick recap....

Well here we are in December and it seems time has gotten away from me. But we have had some really good times even though I wasn't able to get on here and share about them until now. So I will just give you what is the short version. Hehehehe.

Last year I bought this little magnet nativity scene and it seems Karina is enjoying it. We have talked about Jesus and his birth and sang, "Away in a manger" quite a few times, but I know she will start to understand a lot more next year. She is so cute when we see a manger scene now and says to me, "Look mommy, it's away in a manger!"

Just a little knitting I was working on this month to sell some more hats on my site.

It was wonderful to have our first fire of the season. That wood smelled so good and the crackling could have put me to sleep.

Well the week of Thanksgiving I made some sweet potato pies to take to Jeff's folks for our big lunch. Of course I had to include my little chef who insist on helping no matter what I'm doing in the kitchen. I know I will appreciate it in years to come.

Thanksgiving morning we woke up and made a yummy pancake and sausage breakfast and watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. That has always been a fun thing to do when I was growing up and Karina got a big kick out of the floats and danced around the living room when the bands would play.

Well when we got to my in laws for Thanksgiving this plate is what we saw displayed and I had no problem with that. We had a wonderful meal that everyone helped with and enjoyed some great family time. Of course we hung out all day and even took a nap and woke up to yummy leftovers. Thanks again mom for all you did and for having us.

These two cuties had a little art time after lunch.

Had to get a pick of dad carving the bird.

No the guys didn't set the table they are just ready for some of that good food.

Last month we also had a great time going with Jeff's parents and his brothers family to an airshow. It was actually how his dad wanted to spend his birthday and I'd say by the look on his face he really enjoyed himself.

It was a chilly day but lovely blue sky and so much fun. I think all the dad's turned into little boys again seeing all the awesome jets.

Karina was pretty amazed by it all, I think she enjoyed dancing to the loud music they had playing the most.

A neat shot Jeff got ..

Mommy and Karina taking in the show and trying not to freeze.

We also enjoyed going to a friends house for a birthday lunch and man was it good. The ladies that I knit with are so very special to me and it is always a blessing to spend time with them. Then when you add a yummy lunch to that it's even better.

Is that one yummy looking cake or what! And the soup, salad and rolls were tasty too.

We had some play dough fun this month too. Well for me and Karina it's almost a daily thing. But on this day daddy joined in the fun.

This little one gets quite a kick out of Veggie Tales so you can just imagine her glee when I made her a little Bob and Larry.

I had to capture this moment by the fire. Karina was so sweetly reading her book and it just looked too cozy.

These pictures are of us having a grand ol' time at the Peanut Festival. It's a really neat fair that goes on not too far from us and has animals, rides, great food and lots more. We had the pleasure of going with my parents and man did we have fun!! Just take a look...

Some of that yummy food I was talking about!

It wouldn't be the Peanut Festival if we didn't get a picture with the peanut!

These daytime pictures should have been put before the night ones, but I'm not doing this all over. Karina is quite the animal lover and so when Papou wanted to let her ride the pony she couldn't resist.

There was also a neat little petting zoo they had set up and she loved that as well.

Well folks there you have it. Some of the fun things we did that I waited forever to post about. Like I said at the beginning I hope I can be better about getting on here and sharing stuff before it's a month later.
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and lots of fun this fall. We are so thankful for all the Lord has blessed us with and that includes you if you are friends and family. I say that because I know this blog is open for all to see. Most of all we are thankful and so undeserving of the love God has poured out on us with the birth, life and death of His only Son so that we may have new life in Him. And so this Christmas season we pray that you would know that love and grace as well. See you soon....
