Fun at the zoo!

We had a great time at the zoo on Saturday. It's not your normal zoo though. Actually it's perfect for a 1 yr. old that thinks the animals are great but doesn't care about staying at the zoo for more the a couple hours. Zoo World is a small scale zoo with some great animals. It was also a great deal that day because the admission was only a dollar. So we went with my brother and met my parents and sister's kids out there and just had a lot of fun! Karina really got a kick out of all the animals but I think her favorite were the beautiful parrots. There was even one there that talked. We went out there in the morning and came back home for lunch and naps. So it was a terrific day.

pondering a patio...

Yes, I am dreaming of a patio these days. Jeff and I had talked about pouring one out in our big back yard, but had always talked about it doing it next Spring. Well the other night when we were just sitting around relaxing he pulls out his pencil and paper and I know he's up to something. So I asked and he said he was planning the patio and is thinking he would like to go ahead and do it this Fall. Well you can only imagine how crazy excited I got just thinking about it. And if you don't know already our back yard IS huge, but it also has weeds galore and many red ants that I am not so thrilled about. Also anything that reduces the amount of grass(weeds) we have to mow and water and keeps us safe from the ants is a good thing in my mind. This will be so very nice because we will now be able to dine outside in the cooler months and to top it all off Jeff wants to build it to include a fire pit!! How fun does it sound to sit around a cozy fire when there is once again a nip in the air and roast some marshmallows and make s'mores!! Or to sit and listen to my sweet husband play his guitar which he has not done for me in quite some time! But most of all to be able to get a group of friends and family together to share it with is what I play over in my mind. So know that when the job is done you all are welcome to come and share it with us. Can't wait to make some coffee, hot cocoa, tea and cookies and enjoy that first fire outside!

My buddy Ethan!

Ethan was so sweet to pose for his Aunt Kristie in a couple hats I am selling in my shop. I knew they would look better on a little boy then they would just laying flat. He is such a fun little guy and growing up so fast. I love that Karina will have a big boy cousin to look after her since she doesn't have an older brother. She could always end up with a younger but bigger brother like I have in my man Dan, but we'll see. And no I am not pregnant yet. :) Anyway just had to share these pics being that they are oh so cute and I don't think it hurts anything to do a little advertising for my shop on my blog either. Hehe. I am currently knitting a little sweater for Karina that is almost done so I will be a bit before I put anything else up for sale just yet, but you will know. :)

cute cousins!!

How cute are these two just playing so sweetly together. I know they are going to be great little friends already! I kept sweet little Caroline the other day for Emily and she was just that, sweet! They really did have a great time together. And Karina was even doing so well with sharing. Makes me look foward to having another child knowing that she was so willing to hand Caroline more toys to play with instead of taking everything away. I am so grateful that our family lives in the same town and that our kids can grow up with each other!! Praise the Lord!

Darling designs!

Here are some new sweet little hats I just put up in my shop. Karina was oh so sweet to pose for mommy so that I can advertise. Please know that I will give discounts to friends and family if you all see something you are interested in. Just let me know. Also feel free to put a link to my shop page if you would like on your personal blogs or web pages. I am hoping to get some more things up there soon for sale. I just made a couple really cute little boy hats that will go on there today. So keep a look out!!

A touch of fall!

This picture right here is so very welcoming to me. It's as if the yarn speaks aloud when I walk by saying come and sit awhile. It it one of the most relaxing things to do in my opinion when I have some peace and quiet and it's just my yarn, needles and me snuggling in for precious bit of time when I can create just what I want to and just the way I want to. I know my Nana would agree and I think of her often as I sit and knit with pictures of her in my mind of years ago when she would knit so very fast and my head would spin. I used to wish I could knit like her and without even looking at times. She amazed me! And I think I would amaze her now with all the knowlegde she bestowed upon me and with such patience. Thank you Nana. I love you so and will continue to knit in honor of you and all you taught me. :)

This is the wreath hanging on my front door that I will confess has been there for a couple weeks now even though it is not officially fall. I got the itch to decorate for autumn about the beginning of September. I think there might have been a day in there somewhere when the air was a little cooler then it's been. And I wanted to see some lovely fall leaves and light a spice candle or two. :)

One of my fall arrangements in my house that remind me the cool weather is not far away!

Doesn't this basket of hats and yarn just scream cozy to you!! I could eat it up if it were food. The yarn in the front of the hats is some I am going to use to knit Karina a little sweater with soon. I am hoping to start on it tonight. I bought it a long time ago and made a wonderful warm and cozy blanket with it, then a scarf when I realized how warm and cozy it was all knitted up. I love the colors too. It is a wool yarn and that makes it nice and toasty. I think I will make a little sleeveless sweater that she can wear with a longsleave shirt, maybe some stripes, maybe some ribbing. We'll see. Can you tell I make it up as I go. Hehe.

Oh and yes I am one of those silly people that likes to change their bedding with the seasons. During the Spring and Summer months I have a navy blue cover that goes over this comforter. It looks very cool and nautical to me. But when the fall and winter come around and I want something that brightens up the room and warms me just by looking at it some change is a must. And so the cover comes off and the flowers are out along with the cozy knitted pillows and chocolate colored fuax suade shams behind them. So just thought I'd give you all a peak into my little world and now I think I will cuddle up in that warm bed and shut my eyes for a bit while my sweet little girl is doing the same in her cozy little bed. Sweet dreams everyone!

Guy's going for a cruise

This last Saturday we headed out to have some fun in the sun with my family. They were all camping at a lovely state park not far from where we live. So Jeff and I packed things up, put Karina in the car and headed out for a day in the sun at the beach. We were so blessed to take Jeff's dad's boat with us and went ahead and threw our kayaks in the boat as well. It couldn't have been a more perfect day. The sun was shining and the air was just right! So was the water when we all went for a swim. We had so much fun and I can't even express how very blessed we are to have the family we do. We were only planning to stay for the day and head home before dinner but when my mom offered to have us stay for a bbq we couldn't resist. Thank you mom and dad for a great time. And thank you Lord for all the ways you bless us!!!

This ones for you Nancy!

I usually don't do these kinds of things, but I will for you Nancy. :)

I've been tagged to play the middle name game. First, the rules:You have to post these rules on your blog. Players, you must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name. If you do not have a middle name, choose one you would like to have. When tagged, write your own blog post containing your middle name facts. At the end, choose one person to tag for each letter of your middle name. Then leave them a comment telling them they have been tagged.

M- meaningful- I believe that Jesus Christ came to this earth and lived a perfect life and
died for my sins and that brings meaning to my life!

A-awe- I am in awe at the many blessings the Lord has bestowed upon me in my family and friends.

R-routine- I like to have one even if I stray from it now and then. :)

I-imagine- I love to imagine all the fun crafts I could make if I had hours and hours on my hands.

E-exercise- I really enjoy exercising as long as I can push myself out the door. hehe. Whether it's walking, swimming, hiking, biking, kayaking I love all of them!

I don't know any other bloggers that will do this so you will just have to keep it going! :)

Keeping Karina busy!!

Karina wanted to be with me as I cleaned the kitchen today. I was really lazy today but I did clean my kitchen! It was just one of those days of waking up to a cloudy sky and then lots of rain, which I love, that made me in that cuddly, cozy, not wanting to leave the house kind of mood. So, I didn't! But back to Karina. She is wanting to imitate more and more it seems the things that Jeff and I do around the house. So today it was cooking 101. And even though I wasn't cooking at the moment she knows that the kitchen is where all the yummy food is. And so in an effort to keep her amused while I put dishes away she learned how to make spaghetti, haha. First you have to get your utensils. Then you throw the noodles in, hers were these fun play straws. And of course don't forget to taste the sauce once you mix it all together.
This little display of curiosity in the kitchen made me think of my mom and me when I was younger for she has told me that I always wanted to help. So I flash forward to a few years from now when Karina is pulling at my leg and begging to help me cook as well. I say I can hardly wait, but I am sure that I drove my mom a little nuts at times and she probably wished she could give me a few spoons, straws and a bowl to keep me happy and quiet.
So I will relish these times as my little girl pretends. And will wait for all the fun we will have together becoming companion cooks as we create meal after meal for our family. I can only pray that the Lord will enrich our relationship as we spend time together in the coming years and that one day Lord willing she becomes a loving young woman that takes joy in cooking as I do. Thank you Lord for this precious little girl!!

Karina from the hood!

How funny is this!? I had put the headband on Karina to take some pictures of her with her cousin Caroline who was coming over and after running to do something and coming back I found her like this. Perfectly happy to keep her headband like a little gangster I just had to laugh and take a picture!

Here are the sweet little hats and booties that are for sale in my new online store !! I am so excited to be able to offer my hand knit creations to everyone. It has been a desire of mine for a long time now to be able to sell what I make and advertise them too and now I can without even leaving my house! What a blessing.
